If you continue to submit tips, extending and never letting your subscription expire, then you never pay an annual fee again. If your subscription expires (either because insufficient tips were submitted / accepted, or because a paid subscription expires) then another paid subscription would be required to participate.

ServiceSoftware reserves the right to discontinue or modify the free WinSTIPS Updates program without notice.

Send in only current tips from your service center based on your own experience.

If the WinSTIPS Group Add feature (SimTo Module) is used to apply one tip to a group of models, then only the unique tips will count toward subscription extension.

We painstakingly examine EVERY tip that’s contributed, and reject any that are already in the master database. Others, such as SAMS references, are no longer accepted because the SAMS PHOTOFACT module is now available and provides complete and up-to-date information.

Records that are the same with minor revisions of chassis number are rejected. For example, multiple records that are the same except for the designation of CTC177. CTC177AA, and CTC177BB would be consolidated into one record.

For some brands we may welcome one record for a chassis number and another for a model number, as this may improve the ability to find information with minimal redundancy. For brands that are commonly referred to by chassis (for example: Philips, RCA/GE), then this may not be the case.

ServiceSoftware reserves the right to edit, alter, or not accept any information received. Information is accepted per terms of the WinSTIPS License Agreement.

WinSTIPS subscriptions are not the same as "purchasing WinSTIPS again". In fact, what is being paid for is incremental value, which is quantifiably there. It takes many, many, many hours to maintain databases and software that you will benefit from.

Some of this ServiceSoftware gives away to all users, but there must be a fee for the highest-value items to cover our cost of doing business and to produce a profit. That's fair and honest, and that's the value we to deliver to all clients.

The software upgrades (WinSTIPS application software) are given for free to all WinSTIPS customers. Having purchased a WinSTIPS license, you qualify for a free software upgrade with the next version or build. The WinSTIPS database, which contains huge incremental value because of maintenance hours invested and information added, is not free, and that's as it should be.

A current WinSTIPS database = profits for you

WinSTIPS is certainly more powerful when the WinSTIPS database is current throughout the year, and that's an important fact. We offer different levels of pricing (and participation) that are in line with the value that is delivered. The price starts at FREE after an initial purchase. Here are a few possible scenarios ...

Scenario #1: Purchase WinSTIPS and never update again. This costs $149.95, but as time passes the value of the database clearly decreases because it is not current.

Scenario #2: Purchase WinSTIPS for $149.95, and then purchase a current copy of WinSTIPS for $149.95 a year or more later, which brings the database current as of the purchase date. This is more of an investment, and better than #1, but still not the most powerful because there isn't current data available throughout the year.

Scenario #3: Purchase WinSTIPS at $149.95 and a WinSTIPS Annual Subscription at $180.00 per year. Wow. Now you have the most power available because WinSTIPS is always up to date. WinSTIPS consistently pays for itself and then generates a handsome profit. The $180.00 annual subscription price is typically a drop in the bucket as compared to the profits that WinSTIPS can help generate for a service center.

Scenario #4: FREE Tip Updates

But wait, as they say, "There's more!" After purchasing a WinSTIPS Annual Subscription, those who contribute are rewarded. The price of the plan is FREE, and you can continue receiving updates throughout the year. That is to say you receive all the benefits of Scenario #3!

So there is a low-cost (FREE) option for those who want to continue at NO CHARGE, and we're very proud of that. It extends a clear benefit in exchange for participation, and that's a powerful value proposition too.

So the range of price after initial purchases can range from FREE to $180.00 per year, depending on a client's needs. By having a FREE option, we feel we've covered a fairly broad range of expectations.

There are some - in fact many - who have absolutely no interest in participation. They simply want data delivered to their PC and are pleased to pay for recognized value. After all, they make a profit by using the information that WinSTIPS delivers! We are here to serve those customers.

At the other end of the spectrum are those - perhaps yourself included - who recognize the value of participation and can reap the rewards of participation. Those customers have the same opportunity for profit, and we're here to serve those customers too.
