WinSTIPS Optional Modules Add Value
There are currently three optional modules available for WinSTIPS.
Similar To (SimTo) Module for WinSTIPS
The SimTo Module for WinSTIPS is an optional add-on module that enables you to see and use model cross reference data that we've painstakingly accumulated. 

There is no trial period for the SimTo module, and the SimTo module.

Here are the steps required to purchase and install the SimTo Module:

  • Click the buy button below to purchase SimTo Module for WinSTIPS
  • ServiceSoftware will contact you with download and installation instructions after purchase.
  • After installation, the next time that you start WinSTIPS it should recognize the SimTo Module and indicate that it is loaded and authorized. 

If you receive WinSTIPS 2.1 on CD and have purchased the SimTo module, then the SimTo module will be installed by the CD.

This module is valuable for two reasons:

  • Quickly creating tips for similar models
  • Searching for tips based on similar models
Creating Tips Using SimTo Module for WinSTIPS

For example, SAMS folder 2004-2 covers 10 models of Panasonic televisions. They are:

  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5022R
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC GP80YR
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC GP80Y
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5064R
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5062R
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5051
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5036
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5035R
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5034R
  • 2004-2 PANASONIC CT5032

Based on that information -- and using our SimTo Module -- you could add 10 tips with the press of one button. Just enter a tip for any one of those models or the SAMS folder number 2004-2, and WinSTIPS will alert you that the model you just entered belongs to a model group. It also tells you how many models are listed in the group.

At that point you can choose to create a tip for every model in that group by clicking one button. Using our SAMS 2004-2 example, 10 tips would be created.

Searching For Tips Using SimTo Module for WinSTIPS

When you use the Drill Down function to search for tips based on a make and model, and arrive at the symptom list, you’ll be alerted if Similar To models are found in the SimTo database.

By clicking the SimTo button on the Tips Summary form, you can reach the model group listing to see what models are associated with the model you searched for.

Double-clicking an associated model number will bring up the symptom list for that model number.

SAMS Photofact Index Module for WinSTIPS (FREE)

The SAMS Photofact Index Module for WinSTIPS is a free and optional add-on module.

The complete and up-to-date SAMS Photofact Index is searchable from inside of WinSTIPS.

  • One file, about 2 Mbytes in size

Installing SAMS Photofact Index Module for WinSTIPS

  • If you receive WinSTIPS 2.1 on CD then the SAMS Photofact Index for WinSTIPS module will be installed by the CD.
  • To easily download SAMS Photofact Index for WinSTIPS (Requires WinSTIPS 2.1 Build 55 or better):
    • Start WinSTIPS
    • Choose Tools and then Update from the WinSTIPS menu
    • Click the Photofact Update button
    • Close WinSTIPS
    • Start WinSTIPS
Philips ECG Module for WinSTIPS (FREE)
The Philips ECG Cross Module for WinSTIPS module is a free and optional add-on module. The module contains 305,760 semiconductor cross reference entries, searchable from within WinSTIPS. Information is supplied courtesy of Philips ECG.

Installing Philips ECG Module for WinSTIPS

  • Download the Philips ECG Cross Module for WinSTIPS from our [Download Center]
  • A file named ECG.EXE will be downloaded to your PC. ECG.EXE is a self-extracting Zip file. Do not unzip the file when you are finished downloading.
  • Use My Computer or Windows Explorer to go to the folder that you downloaded ECG.EXE to (Netscape puts it in C:\My download files)
  • Double-click the file named ECG.EXE and it will self extract to the proper directory (C:\Program Files\ServiceSoftware\WinSTIPS\).
  • The next time that you start WinSTIPS it should recognize the Philips ECG Module for WinSTIPS.
  • Choose Modules and then ECG Semiconductor Index from the main WinSTIPS menu to use the Philips ECG Module for WinSTIPS

If you receive WinSTIPS 2.1 on CD then the Philips ECG Module for WinSTIPS will be installed by the CD.

Reverse Look Up Feature

The WinSTIPS ECG Cross Reference includes a Reverse Look Up feature that all semiconductors crossing to an specific ECG part number.

For example, let's say that you'd like to see all the semiconductors that cross to ECG2331.


Reverse Look Up feature is enabled by pressing F10

Here are the steps to produce the listing for our example Reverse Look Up::

  • Start WinSTIPS and then choose Modules | ECG Semiconductor Index from the main menu. The ECG Cross Reference form will open as depicted.
  • Press F10. "Reverse Look Up" will appear on the status bar at the bottom of the form.
  • Enter an ECG part number without the ECG prefix. For the purposes of our example, enter 2331 to find all the semiconductors that cross to ECG2331.
  • Press the <ENTER> key or click the search button (the button labeled ">>")
